Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to Healing Essence Massage! We're so happy to have you!
Before you get started, here are some questions and misconceptions you may have about massage therapy.
IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING APPOINTMENT AVAILABILITY:
We are very proud to welcome a new licensed massage therapist to the Healing Essence team. Licensed massage therapist Jordan Irvin is now accepting appointments!
Alicia Cummings will also be joining Healing Essence beginning December 9th, 2024!
Alicia will be offering afternoon, late afternoon, and alternating Saturday appointments for those who may find it difficult to book massage appointments during our regular hours.
This has changed our massage availability; check out massage schedule below for more information.
If you need immediate relief and an appointment time is not currently available, we highly recommend our red light therapy treatments in lieu of a massage to relieve pain and promote healing. We are accepting all clients for our red light therapy and detox treatments, and can generally book an appointment for red light within 24 hours.
We are also introducing our new 4-Dimensional Zero Gravity massage chair, as another option for those are in need of relief and unable to wait for a massage appointment.
Thank you for your understanding.
See our Booking & Cancellation Policy page for more details.
Do you offer massage appointments every day?
Unfortunately I do not offer massage every day. I do need a few days to rest up and spend time with friends and family.
Our office is open Monday-Friday for full body red light therapy, ionic foot detoxes, hand/foot heated moisturizing or paraffin treatments, and group parties.
New therapist Alicia will also be offering some evening and alternate Saturday appointments beginning December 2024; contact our office for availability.
**Massages are scheduled in advancet; please contact our office as far in advance as possible, so you can be placed on the schedule.**
Red light therapy and ionic detoxes can generally be scheduled within the week.
What days and times can I get massages?
Massage appointments are available Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Jordan Irvin is also accepting appointments from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM two Saturdays each month. These Saturday times do fill quickly, please contact us to confirm availability.
We have openings for red light and several of our other services 5 days a week, Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
I was given a gift certificate for a one hour massage. However, I can only get a massage during the evenings and weekends. What are my options?
You are welcome to apply your gift certificate toward our other services such as the ionic foot detox, moisturizing treatments, red light therapy, or group parties, which are available during those times.
One of our therapists also offers some weekday afternoon appointments, along with some Saturday; please contact our office for availability, as these slots are limited and fill quickly.
If you need massage treatment quickly, then I would recommend choosing the full body red light therapy, doing two 20- minute sessions back to back in place of the massage.
Gift cards are not transferrable to another person, but we are happy to adjust the services purchased to better accommodate your needs. For example, if your gift certificate is for a massage, but red light therapy would more easily fit your schedule, we're happy to apply that certificate to any of our services.
Gift certificates are non-refundable.
Does it bother you when people don’t shave their legs?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! I usually do not even notice. The room is dark. As well as when someone feels hair on the leg, they are very lightly touching the top part of the skin. This is not the case for me.
I am massaging into the muscle and not lightly touching the top of the skin. So I usually do not notice at all nor do I even think about it.
I have never had a massage before. How much do I have to undress?
When you first come in for your massage, I will take you to the therapy room. I will step out and you will undress all the way down to your underwear and get under the sheet and blanket on the massage table.
You will be completely covered. I only uncover the part of your body that I am working on.
For example, when I work on your back, I uncover the back and then cover it back up when I finish. And I repeat that through out the remaining areas.
I do have my clients take off their bra so that I can massage the back and shoulders easily.
Some people even prefer to not wear underwear. That is fine. You will be completely covered through the entire session.
For those who would be more comfortable covered, loose shorts may even be worn. I do recommend shorter length shorts so that I can massage the entire leg. You might be disappointed if I can only massage the lower part of the leg and not the upper leg/thigh.
Should I dress up and put on makeup before coming in for my massage?
Only if you want to, but don’t dress up for me. I’m only going to mess it all up.
Your policy requires a three hour cancellation notice be given, but what if the appointment is scheduled for 9 AM or earlier?
Please go ahead and still give a three hour notice before your scheduled appointment even for the early sessions.
I’ll actually get those messages or see those text early, and that gives me plenty of time to contact another client to fill that time slot. Many times I have a waiting list of people that are hurting and hoping for an available appointment. The 3 hour window gives me time to see or hear the message and contact another person.
I missed my scheduled appointment without letting anyone know. Am I still financially responsible for the session?
Yes. I require a 3 hour minimum cancellation notice (as opposed to others that require a 12-24 hour notice). This allows me plenty of time to call someone else in to take that time slot.
Since there are only so many hours in a day, I can do only so many hours of massage. When someone doesn’t let me know that they aren’t coming then I have absolutely no time to call someone else to come in. This may prevent another client from getting some much needed help, as well as it affects my income.
For those that don’t feel they can respect this policy, it is best that you find another therapist that may suit you better.
Am I required to prepay for my session when I schedule it?
In the past we haven’t required it, but have recently begin to implement it. In the future it will be a part of our normal operation.
The money is nonrefundable, but the session can be rescheduled if a minimum of 3 hour notice is given. It also can be transferred ONLY to one of our other services we offer or products we carry.
Are refunds available for any prepaid sessions or gift certificates?
No, certificates are non-refundable, but can be transferred to one of our other services and/or products.
Gift certificates cannot be transferred to another individual.
How long do I have to use a prepaid service or gift certificate?
2 years from the purchase date. No exceptions.
If you have any other concerns or questions, please reach out to me via phone or email! Love you all and see you soon!
